Opportunities
We are looking forward to working with undergraduate students, graduate students (master's or doctoral), visiting researchers, and postdoctoral researchers.
Prospective graduate students should first apply to the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering. Along with applying to the UArizona Graduate College, a prospective graduate student should email Professor Hanquist and include your CV, a brief statement of your interests related to our research, and examples of your recent work.
There are numerous opportunities for undergraduate students to get involved in our lab including:
- Arizona/NASA Space Grant
- Undergraduate Research Opportunities Consortium
- Course credit (e.g., AME 392, 492)
Postdoctoral applicants also please attach your three most important publications. Availability changes frequently according to project needs and funding; however, we are always ready to meet the most outstanding candidates from all fields and areas of expertise.
Funding
While Professor Hanquist's research grants and teaching assistantships fund the tuition and stipend for students in the group, funding from graduate research fellowships is another valuable resource that all applicants should pursue. A list of external fellowships to which prospective graduate students can apply is provided below:
- NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunities (NSTGRO)
- National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG)
- Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART)
- Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF)
- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP)
- GEM Fellowship Program
